What e-shisha accessories are for

An electronic shisha (e-shisha) is made up of a battery or power supply, a tank holding the e-liquid, a coil that heats this liquid, seals that keep the whole assembly airtight, and a mouthpiece through which the vapour is inhaled. These parts wear at different rates: the coil is a consumable to be replaced regularly, seals loosen over time, the tank can crack, charging cables get damaged. This category brings together the parts needed to keep an e-shisha in working order without replacing the whole device.

Tanks and cartridges

The tank holds the e-liquid. It comes in several capacities depending on the model. In France, a tank intended for a nicotine-containing e-liquid is limited to 2 ml (TPD regulations); larger tanks are reserved for nicotine-free e-liquids. The material (glass, polycarbonate, PCTG) and the filling system (top fill, bottom fill, pre-filled cartridge) are specified on each product page.

Replacement coils

In electronic shisha terminology, the coil (or atomiser) is the heating element that vaporises the e-liquid. Its resistance in ohms and its type (resistance wire or mesh) determine the operating power and the amount of vapour produced. A coil is specific to a model or a family of models; a coil not designed for the device may not fit or may not be powered correctly. Its lifespan depends on use, on the type of e-liquid (liquids high in vegetable glycerine or sugars clog it faster) and on priming before first use.

Chargers and power supply

Depending on the model, an e-shisha charges via USB cable (micro-USB or USB-C), charging dock or mains adapter; some electronic heat heads (e-heads) placed on a classic shisha run on mains power or on a removable battery. The charger's voltage and current must match those specified by the device manufacturer. An unsuitable charger can damage the battery.

Seals

Silicone O-rings keep the joins between the tank, the base and the mouthpiece airtight. A deformed or split seal causes e-liquid leaks and an abnormal draw. Seals are sold in sets, sized for the model concerned.

Batteries, docks and hoses

For tabletop e-shishas and electronic heat heads, the category also includes replacement batteries (capacity expressed in mAh, specific to each model), charging or holding docks, hoses and hose adapters, as well as capsules for models that run on capsules. These parts are only compatible with the model they are designed for.

Mouthpieces

The mouthpiece (drip tip) is the part through which the vapour is inhaled. It comes in different materials (plastic, resin, stainless steel, glass) and different fitting diameters (510, 810 or proprietary format). Disposable hygienic mouthpieces allow the same device to be used by several people.

Compatibility: how to check

An accessory's compatibility is checked against three criteria: the brand and exact model of the e-shisha, the reference of the original part (often engraved or printed on it) and, for coils, the resistance in ohms. Care and replacement

The tank is cleaned with lukewarm water, without harsh detergent, after removing the coil; let it dry completely before reassembly. A new coil is primed by placing a few drops of e-liquid on the cotton, then waiting a few minutes with the tank filled before the first inhalation. Seals are replaced as soon as a leak appears; replacing them as a complete set avoids size mismatches. Used coils and batteries fall under the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) stream and should be taken to a collection point, not put in household waste.

Applicable regulations

E-shisha accessories are components of vaping products within the meaning of Article L.3513-1 of the French Public Health Code. Their sale to minors is prohibited and their advertising is regulated by Article L.3513-4. Tanks intended for nicotine-containing e-liquids comply with the 2 ml limit of the TPD regulations. The accessories themselves contain no nicotine.
