Since 26 February 2025, the sale of disposable puffs has been banned in France. Only devices that comply with the European regulation on vaping products (TPD directive) may be sold: tank of 2 ml maximum, nicotine e-liquids limited to 10 ml and 20 mg/ml, prior notification to ANSES (the French health and safety agency). These refillable or pod-based devices are grouped in the Puff category. Electronic shishas fall under the same framework: regulated e-liquid composition, TPD compliance and notification to the French health authorities. The products listed in these two categories comply with the French regulations in force. Sale to minors is prohibited.
Since disposable puffs were banned in France (26 February 2025), the devices listed in the Puff category are rechargeable pod systems that comply with the TPD directive: USB-C rechargeable battery, tank of 2 ml maximum and pre-filled 10 ml pods with nicotine salts at no more than 20 mg/ml. The principle is the same across all these models: you keep and recharge the battery, and only the pod is replaced once empty. The main references currently available are Al Fakher Hypermax Prime 50K, Al Fakher Hyper Max Advanced 30K, Al Fakher Refill Pro 32K and Adalya Myvo 30K.
Disposable puffs, banned in France since 26 February 2025, were single-use devices. Rechargeable puffs consist of a rechargeable battery and a replaceable or refillable e-liquid reserve.
A disposable puff combined a non-rechargeable battery with a pre-filled, non-replaceable tank: once either one ran out, the whole device was thrown away. A rechargeable puff separates the two elements. The battery, rechargeable via USB-C port, is kept; the e-liquid comes either in pre-filled 10 ml pods that are replaced once empty, or in a 2 ml tank that the user refills from a bottle of e-liquid. The puff count stated by manufacturers — 50,000 on the most common models, such as the Al Fakher Hypermax Prime 50K puff — covers all the pods supplied with the device, not a single charge. At end of life, the battery falls under the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) scheme and empty pods under household waste sorting, according to local guidelines. The devices in the Puff category comply with the French regulations in force (TPD directive: tank of 2 ml maximum, nicotine limited to 20 mg/ml). Sale to minors is prohibited.
