Why choose natural shisha coals over quick-light?
Natural charcoal for shisha is made from compressed coconut shells. It contains no ignition agent: it is lit on an electric charcoal heater or a gas burner, in around ten minutes, until it glows evenly red. It burns slowly and gives off little smell.
Quick light charcoal contains an accelerant that lets it catch in moments with a lighter. In return, it gives off a strong smell as it starts, can alter the taste if it is placed on the bowl before its surface has fully caught, and burns for less time than natural charcoal.
Electric and gas charcoal heaters are used to light natural charcoal.
